WEEK 4: LOVE
LOVE
Weekly Reflection Scriptures:
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Today we remember Mary, innocent and powerful, sacred and scared, worried and waiting as the Savior of all grows in her womb. She sings boldly when she might be meek; she bears her role in history with the confidence of a warrior; she is the beginning of a mighty revolution as the proud are brought down and the lowly lifted up.
Today we give thanks for the love of God made manifest in the Marys among us, who step out of the roles society has planned; unintended pioneers determined to do as God asks; fearless and fearfully stepping out in faith, and beckoning us to do the same.
Let us pray: God of hope, Prince of peace, Jubilee Judge, and Lord of love, your goodness is beyond our wildest imaginings. You give us more than we can think to ask, coming to us with impossible possibility in the union of flesh and spirit. Teach us to love as Christ our Lord loves. Help us to love the other whom we find it difficult to love and see your Image within. God, give us the power to grasp how wide, long, high and deep is God’s love that has been revealed in Christ Jesus. It is in the name of Christ, our Lord, that we pray. Amen.
