FEBRUARY 1, 2021

The month of February is Black History Month.  During this month, we celebrate the achievements and history of African-Americans as part of Black History Month.  Every Monday, we will provide Black History highlights that can be shared with children of all ages.

Parents, here are ways that you can engage your family in Black History Month:

Here are some activities that you can do with your children:

  • Create your own Black History story

    • This a good time to begin creating the narrative

    • Get out pictures, writing tools and build your family story

  • Read a book a week

    • Create a space for sharing the story and life lessons

  • Have children paint pictures of cultural meaning

  • Celebrate Collage

    • Collect pictures of African American culture, faces, people, jewelry, etc.

  • Interview an elder

    • Create a list of questions and record their responses
