About Dr. Coleman
A dynamic speaker, life-motivator, published author, blogger, professor, and trained podiatrist, Dr. Sharri is dedicated to empowering individuals to identify the link between the soul and their soles to take the necessary actions to “walk out” their life’s purpose. With a unique blend of medical expertise and spiritual insight, she advocates for individuals to remain spiritually, mentally, and emotionally true to themselves, whether addressing a congregation, an academic audience, or a healthcare setting. Her unwavering commitment lies in empowering individuals to pause, refocus, and unlock their inherent strengths.
Born and raised in Edgewater Park, New Jersey, Dr. Sharri graduated from Philadelphia High School for Girls (1989) in Philadelphia, PA, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry/ Pre-Medicine from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, in 1993. In 1998, she obtained a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine.
Blending her passion for learning and mentorship, Dr. Coleman shifted away from her medical career to pursue teaching. For a span of seven years, she imparted knowledge in Science and Chemistry within the Oklahoma City Public School system. In 2006, while concurrently teaching high school Chemistry, Dr. Coleman took on an adjunct role at the University of Oklahoma in the Clara Luper African and African American Studies program (AFAM). Presently, she holds the position of Faculty Lecturer, instructing various departmental courses. Beyond her academic roles, Dr. Coleman actively fosters community relationships and collaborations, having served as an internship counselor for three years and as a school counselor at a local ninth-grade center.
Dr. Coleman extends her support not only to young individuals in the education system but also provides encouragement and mentorship to people of all ages within her church, where her husband serves as Pastor. As Minister of Music and leader of the Women's Ministry, she actively engages in various roles, including serving as a local guest radio host, appearing on television broadcasts, and delivering keynote addresses at women's conferences, luncheons, and services across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Currently, she serves on the board of Infant Crisis Services and holds membership in the National Speakers Association (NSA) and the National Association of Professional Women. Dr. Sharri, a lifelong learner, anticipates graduating in Spring 2024 with a Master of Theological Studies degree from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her past roles include contributions to organizations such as the Millwood Enrichment Foundation, Board of Visitors for Casady School, Diabetes education instructor, Board member of the Oklahoma City American Red Cross, and Chaplain of the Oklahoma City Chapter of Jack and Jill.
Dr. Coleman authored the book "Gained Everything Without Giving up Anything: Lessons Learned during My 40-day Family-focused Journey," established the "Parenting on Purpose University" Facebook Group, and maintains a blog at www.soul2soledoctor.blogspot.com. Since July 1997, Dr. Coleman has been married to college sweetheart Rev. A. Byron Coleman III, and together, they are blessed with two sons, Chandler Avery, and Courtland Alexander.
